Our regurgitation statistics

[ad_1]

Man has never invented a single thing (as in this authorship) … ever never … nothing new … never … not a new element has been introduced in life. All we have done is ‘collect’ things to be something else, and we call it ‘inventing’. Semantics, I know … but our thoughts and the many things we speak (communicate) have the same tendency … restores things in a different way, but it’s the same queen message (repeating news, quoting writing, gossiping etc.)) … again and again. As we found a dirty, old, encased nickel … polished it up and claimed it as our own … it holds up for the world to see and in turn, our excitement spreads over this new nickel of ours.

Clearly … the word “Regurgitationalistics” doesn’t even exist … well … it might now … as I use it. In essence, I have coined the word Regurgitation which basically means; to give back or repeat, especially something that is not fully understood or assimilated. Now … I’m not writing this to teach you any kind of form or regurgitation … rather …

I have noticed that we tend to get caught up in communicating and sharing thoughts, ideas, “news and information” and that we easily fall into the trap of just being the talking heads … the most. Mostly almost NOT thinking about what we share … just too busy repeating something we’ve heard … something we saw … something someone else shared with us. Almost monkey-like in our eagerness to ‘pass’ a bit of information … as if we are getting a fee for finders or accolades for being the one who discovers such a globe … all happy and happy for ourselves.

This fast-burning method of passing information leaves us brainless … training us to think less about the message (s) we are conveying … gives us the immediate joy that we did to society to ensure this message does not die out the door … at my feet … on my watch … that it goes on into the future … that somewhere, somehow someone is being touched by it.

So many of our social sites provide the coolest tools to help us forward things that we either find or their site (feed) has found for us … see … which you are finally aware of (hopefully) , these sites ‘see’ you and track your trends … follow your links … ‘listen’ to your words and this in turn allows them to show you things … and you are impressed and ‘touched’ by some moving statement. .. some touching sunset with the most romantic or spiritual-ish-sounding-probably-true statement … you just can’t resist posting it to your ‘friends’ … without ever adding your own comment … without ever to tell us what ‘it’ means to you … how ‘it’ touched your heart (or mind) and motivated you to share it with us.

Recognizing beauty, quality, even seeing acceptable traits in others is no place to stop … I mean … pass along a nice photo to others … even more when it has a ‘perfect’ quote in that. .. is just so tempting. When you see something similar, consider, “oh … I have to show others this ‘nugget truth’ and pass it on to those around me!

DOES NOT! Take the time to consider the ‘why’ that moves you … ‘why’ it caught your attention … and ‘why’ you bother to share it with us. Tell us how it makes you feel … what you are experiencing and why it seems to be affecting you.

OK … maybe you don’t think too deeply about these snippets of information. But that’s the point … we learn NOT to have an original thought … we lose touch with taking the time to consider something before we pass it … to even add ‘our taste’ to it. No … don’t change the story and make it your own … just that we need to take a little more time to learn how to express something unique ours … not pass someone else’s wetness, skill or keen observation.

Many years ago, I received regular texts from a dear friend … a Christian brother who has been saved as long as I … we were both baptized at the same time in the same place. Cass would send me writings via texts on my phone. Two things that were bad about this

  • This was back in the day when text messages cost 10 cents a day. Message (depending on your ‘plan’) and some of the passages he would send spread over 4 or 6 text messages … cost me approx. 60 cents each time!

  • He never, NEVER had any comment on the passage … NEVER, before NEVER forewarned it, or followed up with some “and I believe” comments.

One day I finally sent him back and asked him to either start telling me WHY this scripture inspires him to send it or stop sending them. Oh … I’ve stopped sending them!

And that’s the crux of my point … we get our hot fuzzies on things, but we rarely add anything about ‘things’ or what it means to us at that moment … why we relay, why we feel, why we “likes”, which is why we even put an end to it. Technology units today make it so easy to ‘pass it’ … to quickly notify others and see this ‘magical’ excerpt that has moved us.

Without our intention to let that happen, this teaches us imitate godliness … to repeat what we see or hear … to ‘be like’, we are spiritual. Over time, and with repetition, we will convince ourselves how ‘close to God’ we are, or how ‘not like the sinners’ we are, and worse … how close we are to the good rather than the bad. And … it brings us closer to the ‘rub’ … the error … the core problem of restoring information … to retweete … to suffer … to simply ‘tag’ things that you approve. . You invested NO time or energy at all … you just raised ‘your hand in approval’. We become life-like, but not full of life … rather robotic and calculated.

They have ears, but they do not hear: they have noses, but they do not smell. – Psalm 115: 6

Reviewing the moves becomes easier and easier to do. With so many ways to learn how to do things from DIY channels, to websites, to the well-stocked YouTube site … there’s almost everything you want to learn. But it is these subtle mechanisms in our lives these days that make it harder for us to even notice it happening.

So much so that we are warned that our ‘acting like God’ methods are going to blind us … are going to catch us right at the very worst time of our lives when it’s too late. Notice this warning Jesus gave us;

Many will say to me that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in your name have you driven out devils? and done in your name many wonderful works? And then I would ask them that I never knew you; get rid of me, you who work the clock. – Matthew 7: 22-23

Seems strange to me … I mean, the people acknowledge that they did things “in your name”, yet they do not come to the Lord’s hope for our lives … the service He wants us to portray. But to make the Lord say, “… walk away from me, I’ve never known you“works hard. Remember … it’s NOT how well we know the Lord … it’s how well the Lord knows us!

Practice original thought … learn to express your thoughts … learn how to customize it ‘like’ … learn how to embellish the ‘retweet’ … learn how to make a topic your own. Any monkey can ‘pass it along’ just as you are in some Chinese fire drill line. How? Two key elements;

  • Examine & share its word rightly

  • Expensive little fruit

I?? There have always been two writings or ‘sentences’ that I have kept close to my heart and mind … “Examine to show yourself approveHowever”Correct division of the wordThen learn to ‘attach’ any scripture or godly principle … even just to share something from your life or heart that inspires you to ‘tag’ this photo, phrase or special link (on the social media sites ).

Almost all of us recognize beauty … almost all of us recognize quality … almost all of us recognize something inspirational, or motivating, or even just something that ‘matters in life’, like a quote, phrase or truth nugget. Take a little extra moment … take a little extra thought … take a little extra energy and just include how / why this ‘thing’ matters to you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and will fool many. – Matthew 24: 5

THE RIGHT is one of the key reasons why we need two things; 1) add some additional dialogue or feedback on the ‘sharing’ you are passing through, and 2) just pass on any ‘part’ that someone else has passed on without really giving it much more attention.

See … the subtle of heresy … the quiet comfort of half-truth … the credibility of most of the ‘good things in life’ can actually ease you into a compromising acceptance of the wisdom of the world. Before you even become aware of it, it becomes a different kind of response in your life … becomes a go-to statement that you might use when someone asks “what is your day” or “how is your faith “, or even deeper and more critical …” how is your walk with God “.

Split hair? No … that separates the sheep from the goats, though! Look … be aware of God’s Word … be “learned” in the details … be exposed to His teachings enough to counteract the crooked and slippery slopes that can be thrown about … it’s very important.

Now … not everyone becomes writers … not everyone becomes preachers … not everyone becomes singers … and so on. You are you … you are his child, called to be who he wants you to be … be it! Just … resist doing the quick-n-dirty ‘like’ … the simple scan ‘retweet’ … it hastened the five-word response to someone’s ‘share’. But learn to apply YOUR ‘fruit’ from the Lord … the special skill … the special ‘insight’ that the Lord has provided in your life … or try to bestow. Look … 1 Corinthians 12: 8-12 reminds us that we all have different ‘fruits’ than a life lived in the Lord … and fruit is the proof that there is life … fruit is the result of a mature and well-established plant … fruit is the benefit of the plant from a solid root system, great exposure to the sun and deep and rich consumption of nutrients in the soil.

For to one is given by the Spirit the words of wisdom; to another word of knowledge of the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts for healing the same Spirit; For another work of miracles; to another prophecy; to another distinction between spirits; to another different kind of tongue; to another interpretation of tongues: But all this works on the one and the same spirit that divides into every other man as he wills. For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body; so is Christ. – 1 Corinthians 12: 8-12

Now … DO NOT get out there and beat up any “violator” of this regurgitationalist problem … don’t seek them … don’t chase them down and terrorize them until they repent or cease to be as flippant as just ” like ”things on the social pages. The Bible tells us about it 1 Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

That is, we must prepare our hearts … prepare our minds … prepare our lives … ‘they’ will notice … ‘they’ will pay attention … ‘they’ will eventually ask you and then you can ‘Tell about the hope that is in you‘. But if you continue to use the social sites to “like” or “retweet” or even to “post a link” without even including your comment on the matter … you are missing an opportunity to customize why it ” likes ”matters.

You might be one of those kind of people who just prefers to keep your mind to yourself … to keep quiet … to avoid a conflict … even just to decide to keep the peace as it was . All of these might just be how the Lord has developed you to be. More times than not, though … these are escape routes for us … these are tactics we have quietly surrendered in our lives just to get through this tough life without making things worse, more complicated and just work to be less conflicting.

Chicken!

Too many times it is also uncertain what to even say … where to ‘challenge’ others … or question the half truth in some “accept all people” poem or quote. That is why I have mentioned studying the words of the Lord… learning the ins-n-outs… exposing yourself to the deeper details. Reference point … ready?

There were more than “two of each animal” introduced on the ark!

Do I think jokes? Go check it out! They went in “two-to-two” (male and female), but there were MANY more than just two of each! MANY! Genesis 7: 1-5

There … that’s a bit more of what I’m saying … what I hope to help you ‘see’. Too many of the ‘things in this world’ have influenced the songs we sing, the poems we love, even the phrases we pass on to our young people. But they are half-truths many times, and we just “quietly” like them … or “re-tweet” them, and even just let them go on without raising a hand in rejection, usually for two reasons; 1) ignorant and not knowing better, and 2) too scared (and lacking knowledge) to ‘buck the system’ as it were. In either case, do something about it! Of course, the first one takes time (needs to read, learn, adsorb and discuss with others), but the second is the one that usually stops us … just scared … poorly equipped … careful. The Bible tells us to ‘prepare’ but not to worry ‘what to say’ because the Holy Spirit gives you the words when it’s time. I mean … it was “The Holy Spirit in your life that caught your attention … why wouldn’t it also be the Holy Spirit who would give the words … support that.

And when they bring you to synagogues and to magistrates and powers, don’t think about how or what to say or what to say. – Luke 12:11

The bottom line is … do more than just agree with things that pass through your life. Do more than just ‘keep peace’ … do more than just ‘like’, ‘retweet’ and ‘insert a link’. These things make it ‘seem’ like you are in the knowledge … seems like you are connected … looks like you are on top of things. But add some ‘why this matters to me’ comment … add some “and the Lord showed me this” dialogue … add some of his Spirit to the things you say and do. Change your regurgitationalist ways to original thoughts!

How?

I like to do three things when I see something that I feel I have to ‘pass’;

  • Why – why this caught my attention (link, photo, phrase, article, etc.)

  • What – what it means to me, how I ‘feel’ about it

  • How – how you can be affected by it too (not just saying, “this will change your life”)

Now … continue … Practice original thought!
